OUTDOOR BURNING
The City of Nevada does not allow any domestic waste burning within the city limits. When the City appointed a Waste Disposal Service city wide to provide collection of domestic waste, according to the state burning is no longer needed.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Chapter 111, Subchapter B-Outdoor Burning, No person may cause, suffer, allow or permit any outdoor burning within the State of Texas except as provided by this subchapter., Exceptions (1) Specifies; Outdoor burning shall be authorized for a private residence, when collection of domestic waste is not provided. Definition of "domestic waste" kitchen garbage, untreated lumber, packaging (cardboard, plastics and rubber), grass, leaves and branch trimmings. Examples not domestic waste, which cannot be burned, include tires, non-wood debris, furniture, carpet, wire and appliances.
(2)Outdoor burning shall be authorized for
Fire Training and Land clearing operations for development including residential, commercial, right-of-ways and industrial. If you have a Nevada address and your property is outside the city limits you can burn under Collin County guidelines. We hope this clears up some of the confusion on outdoor burning in the City of Nevada.

HOUSE ADDRESSING
On March 7th, 2006 the City Council passed Ordinance No. 06-02 Requiring all homes and businesses in the city to have physical address numbers.
