It was HOT! and I’m not just talking about the weather. If you didn’t attend you missed a good time! We had great live music, fun games and prizes, great vendors with lots of stuff to see and buy, good food, plenty of fun for the little ones, face painting, bounce houses, RC Cars and more. We want to THANK Commissioner Hoagland for stopping by, all the sponsors for their donations and vendors that participated in our festival this year. Just to name a few;
B&L Sound (located here in Nevada)
Rockwall Ford
 TXU Delivery
Vik’s Kitchen
Six Flags
Collin County Sheriffs Dept
Barnes Waste Disposal
Nevada Volunteer Fire Dept
Classic Homes
Target
and many, many more. And of course a big THANKS to our NevadaFest Committee Nancy Cooksy, Richard Caldwell and Marla Barth.
HOME GRANT PROGRAM
It’s not too late to participate you may be eligible for a NEW HOME through the Home Grant Program. If you are interested call Justin Epker with Grantworks at 214 948-1451. We only have a couple of months left for you to submit an application and all your information to find out if you are eligible for the program and start the process. DON’T DELAY CALL TODAY! It can happen…Construction has already begun for the current citizens participating in this program. Your City Officials worked very hard to obtain this Grant Money for the citizens of Nevada it would a shame for it not to be used.
NO FIREWORKS IN THE CITY OF NEVADA?
Yes it’s true; Ordinance No. 97-7 was adopted by City Council on Oct. 13, 1997 prohibiting Fireworks in the city limits of Nevada. We want to thank everyone for complying with the city ordinance and allowing all Nevada Citizens to have a safe 4th of July Holiday.
NVFD IS HERE TO STAY!
No, we are not loosing our Fire Department. They are however expanding with a new sub-division in Lavon and need more room to grow here in Nevada. The current lot and building they now occupy is too small and can no longer be repaired. They have a generous offer of land from Mr. Bill Williams who owns acreage off 593 in Nevada, he will trade as much land as needed for the new station for the current lot they are now occupying. They have the land, now all they need is a slab foundation and a metal building. If you can donate these items or know someone who can please call the NVFD at 972 853-3166. These guys are dedicated and do a great job, they risk their lives on a daily basis for very little money. Now they need our help.
